Before setting up my private psychotherapy practice in Bath in 2009, I worked in business and finance for 25+ years. Today, I bring my personal experience of the challenges of working in both the private and public sectors to my practice and I believe this continues to ground me in the real ever-changing world.
I trained at the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC), which has been a leading trainer for psychotherapists and counsellors for over 30 years. The training is accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and affiliated to Middlesex University.
I was awarded my MA in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy in 2016 and I am a full clinical member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the United Kingdom Association for Psychotherapy Integration (UKAPI). My dissertation was an exploration of compulsive eating.
I abide by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) code of practice and have experience of being in long term therapy myself as stipulated by the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BCPC). I also have regular personal supervision to maintain the quality of my client work.
During my training I worked as:
- A psycho-therapeutic counsellor at Kinergy - a Bristol based, professional, confidential counselling service for survivors of sexual violence, sexual abuse and/or rape.
- A volunteer with Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS trust.
- By GP referral as a psychotherapist at the Nightingale Surgery in Brislington.
